my merdeka weekend

came and went. stayed in pyramid tower on friday and saturday for my sis' art competition in the one academy and then off to cameron with him and his family on sunday and monday. i'm too lazy for words so let all these pictures do the talking.

friday-saturday, pyramid tower. had so much fun, did countless crazy stuff -- taking pictures sitting on the stairs and floor of the hotel lobby, lying down on the bench, pointing aimlessly at the ceiling. it was 2 days worth of family fun with parents, grandparents and sis. ice cream for everyone at the curve.

sunday-monday, cameron highlands. after one night with my comfy bed at bm, we departed to cameron to meet with his family early the next morning. visited his uncle's flower farm and veg farm, 60degrees slope all the way up mid hill on a tractor, tea farm, drank strawberry tea yumyum dogs there looked like bears. cutest little things ever.

despite being wrapped up in the coldness of the air con in the hotel, she was bundled up in the warmth of the family. despite being groggy from the trip uphill, she was embraced in his care.
she loves all who loves her.

eat like a king

make that 2 kings. i had never in my life made that many stops for dinner -- 5! yes u saw it right, FIVE, 5. and someone still said that he's not full!

had a great meet up with my inti friends from sunway, imu and another guy from uk last night. we almost relived the days when we would have supper at any given time of the night (or morning), be it 12 or 2am.

i'll attempt to list out all the things we ate (in chronological order)

1st stop: super spicy pan mee, and loh bak
2nd stop: dim sum

"golden pau" or corn pau in that sense//pau with glutinous rice inside!
3rd stop: yogurt (more like ice-cream with fruit toppings)

4th stop: assam fish, some kinda pork, and what we call in chinese "suan cai", directly translated as "sour veggie". sorry for my bad translation :p
5th and thankfully last stop: shaved ice desserts, again with various fruit toppings. the pomegranate was sooooooo nice!

clockwise: herbal jelly, mango, crushed red bean, honeydew, nangka, and pomegranate.

and this, all hail the pomegranate in coconut milk (with shaved ice)!
i would eat pomegranate for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

do not drool on the keyboard.

can anyone explain this to me in english?

discuss the following statement: 'the frankfurt school's appropriation of classical marxism provides a clear alternative to the idealist concepts of communication and culture followed by matthew arnolds and f.r. leavis.'

VPI // call me a storyteller

did a vocational preference inventory (VPI) test during organizational psychology compulsory lecture today. basically it narrows down the possible occupations/vocations preferable for one's interests, based on a questionnaire of yes/no answers for 160 occupation titles. it assesses a person's self-perceptions according to 6 occupational environment, namely - Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional. then, according to some expertly arranged combination of scores,we calculate our 3 highest arenas in accordance to highest environment 1st, followed by 2nd, and then 3rd.

as predicted, i scored a full 14 /14 from the Artistic arena. but, never would i dream that i would score as highly for Social and Enterprising as well, as i am not a very extroverted person. my combination was ASE - Artistic, Social(?), Enterprising(??)

my (im)possible future vocations are:

u are welcome to click to enlarge

and laugh at the mirage of me in a clown-suit and red nose acting out a comedic somersault scene on stilts, impersonating tyra banks, then attempting to jump off a burning building, all the while convincing myself that all this is illusory and that i can make magic to turn fire into water, and to keep in mind that i need to find my angle and my light to produce a better photograph.

don't bother if u do not understand a word i just said. i'm just a casting director trying to be a stage manager who is a director as well as a producer, floor manager, art director.

maybe the only thing i'll be really really good at is hypnotizing myself into being a variety artist or ventriloquist. if i work hard enough i could excel at being a beautician too. who knows?

she's really impressed at her dramatic imagination. hmmm...she's meant to be a drama teacher perhaps?

let there be light

when it's dark and gloomy outside because of all the rain, u need some light.

it was raining that evening, i stirred up a cup of hot chocolate and sank my buttocks comfortably on the sofa by the window, with a book in my hand. as i rest my cup down on the coffee table, i saw her kneeling by the drain. curiosity kicked in, but i was thinking to myself, why in the world is someone kneeling by the drain, with arms outstretched in the rain?

as i positioned my face and body to have a better look of the whole incident, she slowly stood up, looking like she's carrying something in her arms. as she turned over, i ducked, worried of being mistaken for a peep. i pulled myself together, and watched as she walked in what seemed like the direction of home.

and i smiled. in her arms lay the most adorable little kitten.

that was my rainbow
in the rain.

it's not what it seems to be

f21 necklace
if u know me well, then u should know that i shudder at the sight of something pink. i do not like pink. i try to avoid it whenever i can, but i found this necklace interesting enough to fall in love with. its asymmetrical shape takes away the femininity of the pink. besides the fact that it's only rm4! forever21 is forever my fave. love!

and this, is not a ring. it's a hair-tie. it's too big for my stumpy fingers i know. but i cant get enough of it. the task now is to find an outfit to accessorize it with.

the english patient was remarkable. ralph fiennes is hot despite his entirely wrecked handsome little face. go watch it!

ah ma's 80th

she's my paternal grandmother, isn't she cute :)
tonight was her 80th birthday (or so we think) so we went back to my dad's hometown - sungai petani - to have a family celebration with her.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AH MA!

be prepared, lotsa pics ahead!

we took these 2 first dishes only, then after we were too lazy to take pics of all 8 or 9 dishes.
yumyum X)

because it was quite a celebration, we took much time (like 15mins) to get prepared.
this was what my sis and i wore.

on sis: f21 blouse (mum's), mng straight cut jeans, nike sneaks, diva robot necklace
on me: f21 top (also mum's) and ankle-length jeans, theme heels,
mng bag, random necklaces, bonita ring,

after all the food, there was fun and laughter! and more food
the cake cutting ceremony and a birthday song-singing marathon.
the birthday music was playing non-stop, in various languages and dialects our hands were sore from too much clapping.
"weh! why the song so long wan?! when it will stop ha? hand pain liao lah!"

ahma's children and their spouses // us grandkids (2 with respective husbands) and that littlest guy in the front is ahma's great-grandson. another great-grandchild on the way!

it was so much fun to see all my relatives again, i think i havent seen them since chinese new year..
especially adore this little kid, bryan. he's such a gem. ask him to smile for the camera and he poses. like a pro! with his signature peace sign :] cutie!
the tall guy there on the right, he's my cousin.
he's available if anyone's interested ><

had a great night, good food and good fun! happy birthday again ahma!

now to go and pack my stuff to go back to sunway. sheesh.

feast on food

(please refrain from puking after looking at the pictures below. parental guidance advised.)

grandma's indonesian chicken. soft-boiled nuts. dinner and supper.

despite the chicken looking a tad bit like poo in the photo, it was amazingly super spectacularly delicious!!

3 slices of granpa's mocha birthday cake, 4 pieces of those mouth-watering chicken, nyonya achar, chilli-fried lady's-fingers, a few (but shitty high calorie) soft-boiled nuts. home sweet home = glorious gastronomical heaven.
