weekend wonder

it's too time consuming to write in words all the interesting stuff we did over the weekend. monash ball on friday night, penang stayover the next, and now, finally back at home with internet connection to slowly view over and over the pics yujia, kinta, nadia and sofia uploaded on facebook. will upload pics of the ball and penang trip once i get it from the others. which is somewhere after this week.

now bear with these mediocre pics from my phone. i just don't own a camera.

4-course meal from the ball:

green bean with prawn timbale, fresh herb salad and confit tomatoes

superior chicken broth with lemongrass and wantan

grilled herb brushed spring chicken
confit garlic polenta cake, roasted vegetables and honey mustard sauce

coconut creme brulee
pineapple maple syrup icecream and sugar snap

penang botanical garden

lunch at The Mansion/Thirty-two on Sunday:

they had such beautiful bread butter i just can't resist taking a photo of them before chucking them into my butter bun

salad with vinaigrette

my fish and chips

toffee pudding with vanilla icecream and fruits

newly opened hard rock hotel penang

man-faced bug at penang butterfly farm

sunset at a beach at batu feringghi

shots of vendors at the batu feringghi night market

sunday was also the day my charles&keith baby walked on sand. no more a beach virgin and yes, i broke my promise of not wearing her to the beach. but no choice, i m so in love with her i had to go everywhere with her.

she now looks at penang with different eyes. she's blessed to be a proud penangite. thanks mummy for being our tour guide

the girl in the rain

she was walking back from uni when it started to rain heavily. raindrops the size of red beans and the weight of rocks. she retrieved her maroon fold-able umbrella from her bag with agility, and continued walking her route.

the rain got heavier. it hit on her puny umbrella with such force, the wind was so strong it almost blew it out of her grip. she struggled to keep it in place, protecting her bag and her books in her hand, and herself from the sudden heavy downpour. umbrella in one hand and psychology books in the other, she carefully made her way back to her place along the once familiar route now enveloped in rain.

despite it raining cats and dogs, she was actually feeling very peaceful inside. her bag was exposed to rain every time her umbrella danced about in the strong wind, her red strapped wedges soaking wet in puddles of rain water, her pale gray denim pants got wetter and wetter, heavier and heavier. but she felt at peace.

she looked at her surroundings, the cars driving past her, they got faster and faster. she turned her head and looked behind her, there was no one else but her. no one was stupid enough to walk back at this time and weather.

and she thought to herself, what would the drivers, in the dry and safe protection of their car, think when they see such a sight. a petite girl in seriously drenched jeans with a big shoulder bag, holding a minuscule weak fold-able umbrella, walking alone in violent weather. would they think she is crazy? or would they think she is helpless and lonesome? would they think she needed a ride? or would they not notice her at all?

yes, she's a very emotional girl, thoughts run through her mind like air in one's lungs. she stopped to cross the road and saw that no cars halt to let her pass. she did not think bad of them, they want to rush back to the warmth and security of home as much as she wanted too. and once she is back in the vicinity of her room she thought, she would make herself a mug of hot milo and unwind.

when she arrived at the doorstep to her room, she put down her umbrella to dry. and bathed herself clean. in the shower, she laughed at herself, at all the random thoughts she had during the 7 minutes walk back here alone in the rain. she did not make that mug of hot milo, but settled for warm green tea.

then she sat down in front of her computer and wrote the story of "the girl in the rain"

ruffled fingers

i am a very happy girl :)

did some random, stupid stuff in com tutorial, did well on my first com assignment, bought what i wanted, loved what i bought, ate what i wanted, wore what i loved, had fun shopping with friends.

life could not get better than that.

she would now save up for australia. and that pair of charles&keith heels.

buttons

people are like buttons,
we come in all kinds of shapes and sizes,
patterns and designs,
colours and texture.

we think differently,
but may have common views,
we have our own likes of ice cream flavours
or share the same dislikes for war.
i like my apples peeled,
but u like yours cored,
she likes her summer,
but he lives for winter.

we may be different but still alike,
nonetheless,
we are still buttons.
of all shapes and sizes,
living in the same box,
printed on the same canvas.

cucmbers and carrots

half a japanese cucumber - sliced; half a carrot - sliced; mi sedap mi goreng; 3 whole cherry tomatoes; 1 big sour strawberry. lunch. yumyum:)

met with kevin my course manager just now, advised me on my student exchange units. i thought it would be a rather long appointment so i went to uni thinking i would have lunch there and then go to class at 2pm. but then, the meeting with him only took like 10 minutes. failing to find an empty computer in the whole of monash, i walked back to my room. hot and sweating profusely.

so lunch was maggie mee. and re-watching HK dramas. alone time is soooo good.

okay get ready to go to class now. auf wiedersehen!

she can't wait to wear her new sandals out, so she wiped off all her purple nails and slipped them on. ugly jagged-edged toenail or not, she was in heaven.

oh boy

charles&keith thong flats

i am in love and heartbroken at the same time. this baby is the most expensive sandal i have bought for myself. and i cant wear them yet cuz my toe nail finally dropped off. ugly jagged-edged toe nail. for the time-being they are still safe and sound in their womb that we call box.

please stay alive much longer than my last pair of sandals. pleeeeeeeeaase.

i m gonna walk like i have never walked before, taking baby steps and wont run in them.
i will not wear them in the rain.
i will not wear them to the beach.
i am gonna keep them safe in the warmth of their nice cozy little box when they are not on my feet.
i am gonna love them as how a mother loves her kids.

snake likes strawberries

there is a new layer of toenail growing out from underneath my toenail. and the old nail is coming off like it's on a ledge. it is so weird. not painful at all...i feel like a snake shedding its skin. except that it's weird and dumbfounding, i feel nothing.

please snow!

it is so hot! malaysia should snow. till knee-high! ugh... not in a mood to do my social psych assignment. i'll start tomorrow then. for the time-being i'll continue staying addicted to fashion-blog-hopping. and adding more unnecessary stuff to my already very long lookout-for list. like more rings and sandals. oh no sandals are necessary. again, the pair of casual sandals i always wear is officially dead. it's worth it anyway. cost me only 20bucks and lasted for 3 years.

please snow...is that too hard to ask?

disarticulated

finally the dreadful rda assignment is done. spss is so easy to use, but the data analyzing part is a pain in the ass. supposed to be doing some readings for my social psychology assignment but ended up here instead. dunno why i feel very lazy these few days. lazy to get outta bed, lazy to bathe and brush my teeth, lazy to dress up for class. have been in shorts the whole week now. maybe i'm still stuck with the relaxed mode from my weekend.

my friends are planning on a trip to penang, and finding an affordable place that can accommodate 5 girls in a room is tough. i think tanjung bungah or copthorne would be good choices. i like the idea of going to the beach. hope it doesn't rain.

i m so homesick right now.

this post is so disconnected.
