jakarta coming in late

i guess it's about time i write about my trip last month to jakarta. initially, i wanted to keep a journal and to write about the interesting places we went, but it was too helter-skelter i did not do any writing. then i thought i could photograph most of the stuff and do like a visual diary if i didnt write, but the camera failed me and most of my pics turned our blur. so, all of the memories i've got about jakarta is in my head. and they are dissolving away with time. i cannot recall half of the places from these pics. so yea, visual only it is.

we were there for only 3 days and a half, i have no idea why we didnt book a later flight back home. bimbos. kinta's parents were so sweet to let us stayover at their place for our trip, and their drivers were also so kind to drive us nosey bums around jakarta and bandung.

the trip was fab, huge part of it was because there was shopping!! but the clothes there dont really quite fit my ahem, style -- yes, i m a choosy dresser -- i did not buy alot. but i was satisfied enough to feast my eyes on the beautiful indonesian prints that made up most of the patterns on their clothes. but joanne was crazy! ohmy crazy was she! i got home with an owl necklace that would showcase itself quite soon on this blog i believe, and a floral skirt in some of these pics. and ofcos, souvenirs for family.

without further ado, enjoy Jakarta!

Pacific Place

banana fritters with cheese and rice chocolate. yummmie

some snapshots in kinta's home

the street right across her bedroom window, it just brightens up one's morning, doesnt it?

paintings were hung on every wall in her home, and i especially love this painting, so very indonesian

The Kiosk Food Market

this was delish!

Bandung

a very creative wall deco in a photography studio and gallery which name i forgot

Saung Angklung Udjo in Bandung

some snapshots around Bandung streets

he's made out of wax! so surreal!

Grand Indonesia Mall

this is such a nice place to people-watch! indonesians dress to the nines at this mall, the heels on the girls are just so gravity-defying, and we saw many tai-tai's with their hair all blown up high. no wonder they say "the higher the hair, the closer to heaven" ha.

besides, its interior deco was also so very awesome words cannot describe the designers' creativity.

that's not yet it for jakarta. there are still some photos in my phone that made the cut but we'll just have to wait for my lappie's bluetooth to get working. after i reformatted them last week, they just sorta gave up on me. till then, toodles!

change of heart

When Shay Bourne was working at our house as a carpenter, he gave Elizabeth a birthday present. Made of scrap wood and crafted after hours wherever he went when he left our house, it was a small, hinged chest. He carved it intricately, so that each face portrayed a different fairy, dressed in the trappings of the seasons. Summer had bright peony wings, and a crown made of the sun. Spring was covered in climbing vines, wore a bridal train of flowers swept beneath her. Autumn wore the jewel tones of sugar maples and aspen trees, the cap of an acorn balanced on her head. And Winter skated across a frozen lake, leaving a trail of silver frost in her wake. The cover was a painted picture of the moon, rising through a field of stars with its arms outstretched toward a sun that was just out of reach.
[...] - light trumps darkness, every time. You stick a candle into the dark, but you can't stick the dark into the light.
There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. -- Albert Einstein

read this book. jodi picoult is my favourite author to date.

what would you do if you were a mum who has a daughter who is in dire need of a heart transplant or her body would shut down anytime, and the only donor available is the murderer of your husband and first daughter? what would you do if your daughter does not want his heart, but asks you to "LET ME GO"?

what would you do if you were a priest who had been on the jury convicting the murderer to death by lethal injection for a crime that he did not commit 11 years ago, and that you did not knew it till he confesses, 11 years later today? what would you do if you knew that the late husband is the one sexually abusing the lady's first daughter? what would you do if there was nothing you can do because the innocent man does not want to live, but wants to die, so that he can save the little girl twice? once from her ruthless step-father and second, by giving her his heart.

i have no answers to any of the questions i have repeatedly asked myself while reading this book. i must admit i was quite disturbed by it i could not sleep at night. words alone cannot describe completely what this book is about, unless to read it for yourselves. i just need a place to vent out my feelings about this book, although i dont really know how.

how does one find the inspiration and creativity to write so flawlessly and spellbindingly, she has no clue. she must find out. she wants to do the same.

cameron-genting trip part2

day 3 & 4

was spent at genting. nothing much to photograph here. our theme park tix costs us rm51 each. dizziness was bugging me and the rain was so unforgiving, so we had to forego all our plans to go on corkscrew, space shot, spinner and all the fun games. curse the rain! ugh

as i could not even stand up straight cuz of my spinning head, he took most of the pics in the theme park. thank you :)

this should be in genting's advertising pamphlet!
