iwantitalloveragain

just had the most relaxing weekend ever, although part of me is still stressed out for my thesis, but at least i got to hang out with my family and loved ones for the past 3 days. mum, dad sis and him came over to attend the scholarship and award ceremony and we all stayed over at kl plaza, chilled and did some shopping. the ceremony was really quick and painless and we headed off to lunch after lounging around in the honours office for quite a while. it was mum's, dad's and his first - and probably the last - time in monash after so many years so a family picture was definitely necessary.
posing before the school of arts and social sciences pillar with mon and andrea with our certs. was wearing mum's mango blazer and shoes are gift from friends from agape boutique
also, we finally set foot at the new h&m store at lot10, it was packed! we all had so much fun (and hauls!) but it would be a much better experience if the place was better organized, seeing the shoes all strewn around the shoe wall and people trampling all over the sandals and wedges, i lost appetite. but the clothes were amazing, mum bought me a jade green lace dress that i absolutely love!

okay, back to organizing my thesis now, reluctantly. the plan at the moment, is to pull an all-nighter on getting the 3000+ words of this chapter done.

photobombs

a few weeks ago, my 6 year old acer aspire died on me, and dad sent it to the tech place to get it checked out in the attempt to resuscitate it, but to no avail. apparently the motherboard gave up living and there was no point in getting it fixed, said the technician, who suggested that it is better if i get a new lappie. been wanting to get something lightweight but with no compromise in performance, and set eyes on a mac. the Switch and Machines stores were having a discount on e.o.l macs (rm3399 for a 13inch macbook air!) and best yet, they were giving out rm600 vouchers if you buy an e.o.l product from them. so we thought that we could use the additional 600bucks to get office for mac, but there were no stocks left for 13in airs at the stores we went to (apparently people would rather get a macbook pro?) BUT there was one (and only one) unit available for the new 13in air which just arrived on that day itself, the flip side was the rm600 voucher does not apply for new products. nevertheless, mum and dad got it for me since i will be needing a lappie to get work done - thanks mum, thanks dad :) i have since been addicted to photo booth and iPhoto, which explains the three photo booth photos below, edited with the iPhoto app! and can i say, the iPhoto app is amazeballs! although i would probably still want to install photoshop.
wore this to meet up with an interviewee for my thesis research project:
forever21 pastel yellow blouse and tribal prints shorts, necklaces were both gifts from friends, and a cotton on stud bracelet as well as spike link bracelet from sheabelle
that's my sister bytheway, channeling lana del rey?

i guess the main point of this post is to just prove that i am still alive and well! happy sunday evening!

the mid semester break -- or what is supposed to be spring and easter break -- is treating me well this past week. besides the fact that i get to devour grandpa's culinary masterpieces at home and spend time with my family and cats, i get to celebrate my birthday with them too (minus the cats). thanks for everything, the coffee cheese cake, the lunch, the new shoe, and last but not least, the love. and thanks also to social media!
new shoes, loving the suede, leather-like pvc tip and metal bow :)

snippets

blogging has become sporadic since my holidays, so here's a peek at my life for the past two months. be warned, picture overload.

1. anusha, simin and i went up to genting for a one day fun at the peak, our clothes and shoes were soaking wet from the fume ride, and whilst we were sunbasking ourselves in the hot sun/cold breeze, three of us developed mild sunburns;
bentos - simin and i made sandwiches, packed them, and customized with our names written on the wrapping. cute and yummy!
2. took random pictures;
spontaneous shot on penang bridge during the penang bike week 2011 in june.
3. went on a 3 days trip to kuching with yujia and kinta, and talked deep into the night until we fell asleep;
self-timer shots are always necessary!
4. celebrated ahkong's 80th, it was a very heartwarming dinner and we had a fun family get-together over the entire weekend;
5. played with xiaoxiao and hung around with the family of stray kitties that live across the street from our home;
6. celebrated mummy's birthday on the 3rd of august;
nah, it's all safe.
7. took more random pictures;
subway white chocolate macadamia cookie, soooo good!
8. and spent the past thursday and friday with him and our friends before moving back here at sunway. we had a karaoke session on thursday, and shopped around kl (midvalley-sg wang-fahrenheit-pavilion) on friday. we got matching t-shirts from uniqlo and he bought me a pair of ballet flats as the soles of my current pair are on the brink of being torn apart.
say hi, girls :)
caramel cheesecake from nando's, tastes like heaven.
at pavilion - the guys. was focusing on the signage behind them though.
9. we also chased down a ferrari 458 italia while descending genting (again) after having dinner and a quick stroll. converted the picture from a video i took, hence the noise, this photo just does not do it justice, at all. i guess all of us were on a roll that night as another yellow 458 italia zoomed pass us when we hit the highway.
10. commencing work tomorrow with my psychology lecturer in uni as a part-time research assistant, nervous! my first job in my 22 years of life, keeping my fingers crossed!

09072011 photo diary

tropical fruit farm; tropical/exotic fruits, blended fruit juices, shady trees.
seafood by the pier; tanjung tokong sunset, jumping over rocks barefooted, discovering an abandoned light house, hanging out on the ledge with the sound of waves down below our feet and the wind in our hair.
straits quay; after dinner strolls, frozen yogurts, wanderings, beautiful lights.

08072011

this is a post looong overdue! so, last friday was ahkong's 80th birthday, and we had a small, intimate dinner. relatives came back from the states and singapore and others flew in domestically just for the night. it was warm and touching, especially the part where ahkong gave a special dedication to popo, and made her cry with a bouquet of 12 red roses. everyone was in their highest spirits, even my fever and dizziness and nausea worn away as the evening proceeded with laughter and tears of joy.
hui and me did a presentation, which ended with akhong looking like this! now all his friends call him superman!
we four girls always end up embarrassing ourselves at dinners like these, singing with ahkong on the karaoke to his favourite song which literally translates from chinese as "cute roses".
and we also doubled as candy-giveaway girls at the night's conclusion. our job was to smother shower guests with sweets!
ahkong and popo with her lovely bouquet of roses :)
their three kids all grown up!
the night ended with a frenzy of family photo-taking. and many tired but happy giggles, smiles, and laughters. and snores till the next morning! the next day consisted of a fruit farm outing and a sumptuous seafood dinner!

many thanks to him for being in charge of my camera the entire night as i was so dizzy i could faint, let alone focus and shoot.

to be continued...
